Friday, January 01, 2010 And so my 22nd birthday came and went.On the eve of my birthday,Ze Ting and I went to visit this place called Once Upon A Milkshake. This shop was featured in i-weekly and I was instantly attracted by the deco, hence the decision to visit this place. As the name suggests,it sells milkshakes and ice-cream in portions which can fill the appetite of both hobbits and giants. So I ordered the mocha milkshake while Ze Ting had the cookies and cream ice cream. It was pretty milky and super sweet, and though the milkshake looks small,it was enough to last me through dinner. They've really limited choices, and the flavours are rather conventional, like chocolate, strawberry, etc. Each of this ordinary flavours is given a new lease of life with wacky names and mascots to represent them. Makes the menu less dull at first glance. Albeit the lackustre effort made by the owner to introduce more wacky flavours, the deco made the trip (somewhat) worth- while. Before we entered the shop,we peeked through the glass and saw NO ONE.No human beings tending the counter and empty tables. So we thought the shop wasn't open.... until someone came out and said Welcome! to us when we entered the shop. It wasn't until about 10 minutes later when small groups of people began to fill the empty tables and made the place less echo-y.I seriously think this is a good place to go if you want to conduct meetings,or just to have a long chat with friends because of its serenity.I just hope that this place won't fold that soon because it really possess the failed venture potential. Ze Ting gave me a jewelry box as a birthday gift.It has this authentic Jap feel to it because of the girl. She said the significance of the box is that I should be following the path of demure-rism (if there's even such a word).Well I've placed some of my earrings inside le! I was quite surprised that someone would actually give me a jewelry box because this is one of the few things which will never appear on my 'To Buy' list, simply because like my mum,I just put all my accessories in whatever empty box I can find laying around at home.So my accessories are in this big mooncake box which I kop from my colleague. On the day itself, sis told me she's going to drive past the house and told me to head downstairs to collect something from her.Little did I know that she bought a small piece of cake for me! Yup it's a very cute Doreamon chocolate cake.It looks small but you know looks can be deceiving. It took me 2 days to finish it. Mum also baked banana cake and cooked my favourite 脆脆面.I was damn full that day. As Elaine was busy with her final year thesis,we had to postpone our celebrations to next year.Nevertheless, her well wishes came via snail mail! Cute right! She bought this in Taiwan and I love it very much.I was instantly tickled by Mr Men and his cheery smile. |
