margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEip6BOBmA8ESEiSLdnYNaMpRxblTH8A6VqOi01ZBVbjmqunUVy4J79Ab-kbEsVp2FrG8vTVoSMNV0aDgCx3UkdcMTnLB5kiVrs0oxeOXQyjPTgOIuxl0j31rlXxZdpz7N6jDRDFnQ/s200/the-painted-veil.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5155926145375141426" /></a><br /><br />I've read about this film in mags before,and Azan told me this was a nice film to watch.So on my last day of work,I went ahead to rent this movie to give it a try.I was instantly attracted to the backdrop,which was set in China in 1920s.It is essentially a love story between Kitty and Walter.Kitty is a selfish and self centered woman who married Walter as she wanted to get away from her disapproving mother as far as possible.Walter is a bacteriologist who works in the government lab in China.So after marrying each other in London,they went back to China.However,Kitty had an affair with another man in London,and Walter found out about it.<br /><br />As a form of punishment,Walter brought her to this small village called Mei Tan Fu deep in China.He volunteered to help out in this cholera infested village.This movie is the journey for both,and the transition of hatered for Kitty due to her infidelity,to love and respect they grew to have for each other.<br /><br />I like the fact that the Chinese was portrayed in a positive way in this movie.You can tell that the film makers really respected China.So I went to find out more and I realised that Edward Norton was a Chinese History major in Yale!!!And so he was really interested in the history of China.That explains alot.OH!And this movie took 5 years to bore fruit.These little details made me love the movie even more and I went to buy the DVD the next day.And watched it again.<br /><br />Edward Norton and Naomi Watts really have a craft for acting!So I'm offically hooked on Edward Norton's films.Sad to say,I've only watched The Illusionist,The Italian Job and Keeping the faith.Now now,I HAVE TO watch these films as well!<br /><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjaHdoRiV4C36ezUwt4YGVWFgdLARpQFayQnuEkTKUbviIK873Uj_STCkrpsZF1GxM7MTGMwpLU7HLl1_SVo8lgoPlJaju2hfBGZNEQHiUvUYZpET1WqOWRPMCLYuBqqTrTkIGhpg/s1600-h/25th%2520hour.jpg"><img style="display:block;
